An Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion is a layperson authorized to distribute the Eucharist. They assist “ordinary ministers” (bishops, priests, and deacons) when clergy are unavailable or when large congregations are present. This ministry is pastor appointed and special training and certification is required.
