We have been blessed with many nice days and great temperatures but unfortunately the weather is starting to turn cold. Please remember to dress your child appropriately. We go outside as long as the wind chill is above 25 degrees. This can be very cold, especially with Kansas winds.
It is important to remember to send your child with the appropriate clothing for this weather (coats, hats, gloves, etc...). We do take the students out in the snow as long as the temperature allows it. IF you send your child in snow boots, please know that they will be asked to take them off in class and put on their tennis shoes. I will allow them to switch back and forth for recess but I will not allow the boots to be worn in class.
Here are just a few excerpts from the handbook regarding dressing for cold weather:
- Solid blue, black, gray or white tights may be worn for warmth under modesty shorts. Girls are not allowed to wear sweats, sports pants, or any other pants underneath the jumpers.
- SHOES: Shoes must be athletic in style with the predominate color of white, black, blue, gray, green, or dark brown. No sandals, flip flops, heels, platform/wedges, open toe or open back shoes of any kind are allowed. No boots, light up, or wheeled shoes, will be allowed.
- SWEATSHIRTS: The gray St. Cecilia sweatshirts with the St. Cecilia School logo will be part of the official dress code. Sweatshirts can be ordered through St. Cecilia Catholic School. All previous gray St. Cecilia sweatshirts will remain appropriate uniform attire until they are outgrown or worn out.
- Students must remove non-uniform sweaters or coats once in the classroom. This includes all non-uniform St. Cecilia sweatshirts with out the St. Cecilia logo. Hoodies of any kind will not be worn in the classroom, hallways or the gym.
Of course, if you have any questions about dressing for cold weather, just stop by the school and ask. We would be happy to help out.
