Preschool's Fabulous February

February is extremely busy in our classroom.  We have our Parent/Teacher  conferences Feb. 12-14.  Please sign-up in the office.  Our Valentine's Day Party will be held Wed. Feb. 13.  Sign-up sheet for treats are by the classroom.  You should have received a note home with a list of children's names if you wish to send cards that day.  We will make Valentine bags for their cards in the classroom.

Reminder:  We have several days next week when school will not be in session:  Thursday Feb. 14 there is no school due to parent/teacher conferences 9:00 AM-!:00 PM,  Friday Feb. 15 no school for teacher release day, and Monday Feb. 18 no school due to teacher inservice.  Spring Break is also just around the corner. There will be no school March 11-15.

Our themes this month include Zoo Animals, Friendship and Feelings, and Dental Health.  We are going to read the Bible Story about Noah's Ark from the Children's Bible to relate to our zoo animal theme.  We have been reading short Children's Bible Stories the past few weeks.  We have read about some of Jesus's miracles, how he taught us the Our Father prayer, and how Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist.  Feb. 11-13 we will focus on feelings and how we express our feelings appropriately to others.  We will also discuss how we can identify feelings in others.  We will have our Valentine's Day party on Wed. to celebrate our kindness and friendship with one another.  We will also have a dental health week this week where we will discuss the importance of taking care of their teeth which includes brushing, flossing, and visiting the dentist.

Please make sure that children are coming to school in warm coats as we do go outside for a little bit when temperatures are above 27.

Please feel free to email me or call me 522-0461 if you have any questions or concerns throughout the rest of our school year.  The children are doing a super job of getting along with one another and learning how to share.  They are really growing and maturing!

Preschool's Jumping into January

The preschool class is adjusting to being back after our Christmas Break.  They were all happy to see each other again!  We have been learning some Nursery Rhymes and practicing our numbers. The class has also been enjoying playing Alphabet Bingo!  For the rest of January we will be talking about Community Helpers and our state of Kansas.  This semester we are focusing on the virtue of generosity.  Which for preschoolers means practicing sharing, taking turns, and giving to others in need.

Catholic Schools week starts Jan. 27- Feb. 2.  There will be many fun activities happening that week, such as donuts and Juice on Monday Jan. 2 and a Talent Show on Wednesday Jan. 30.   Keep your eye out for more notes with upcoming activities for that week.

This month we are also started our Walk in Sister's Shoes Campaign which goes from Jan. 6- March 3.  Preschool can participate in this by the following activities:  Monday Jan. 14th: Bring in your favorite stuffed animal to cuddle for a $1.00.  Monday Jan. 28th Crazy hair day for a $1.00.  Feb. 4th All Blue Day (wear everything blue for a $1.00).  Monday  Feb. 11 Mismatch Day (wear checks, polka dots, Plaids, or zig zags for a $1.00.  As a reminder we will be closed January 21st for Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

You might want to mark your calendars for Tuesday February 5th.  That will be an informational night for preschool and Kindergarten.  If you have a child who is going to be entering Kindergarten this August,  I encourage you to try to attend.  If you know of any three year old children whose families are looking for preschool,  please let them know about our meeting in February.  I hope to have a full preschool next year!
