Super September in Preschool!
Things are going along very nicely in our morning and afternoon classes! The children have really developed friendships and get along quite well with one another. They are enjoying time at computer lab on Thursday and Fridays and music class on Tuesday and Wednesdays. They have been doing a great job working on their homework folders.
We have started a special circle on Mondays that we call our Unity Circle. We have a talking piece (which is a painted rock) and the only person who gets to talk is the person holding the talking piece. I ask them a question like (what do you like to do at school or what is your favorite food to eat) and they pass the talking piece around and share with the group. Everyone gets a turn to share. They are learning to be patient and wait their turn to speak and be respectful and listen while others are speaking.
Everyone should have gotten their Family Unity project with the leaf sent home for the Unity tree. Please have this turned in by Monday September 16th. I look forward to learning more about our families here at St. Cecilia.
Our upcoming themes the rest of September include: Apples, Autumn, and Wind/Weather. I am planning a trip to the Klausmeyer Dairy Farm/pumpkin patch. It looks like it is going to be on Wednesday October 9. I will be sending home notes and information on this field trip very soon. The morning group will go from 8:30-10:30 and the afternoon group will go from 12:30 to 2:30. We will need parent drivers as we do not have access to a bus.
As a reminder Friday September 13 there will be no school in the afternoon due to teacher inservice.
Before you know it the weather will begin to get cooler so don't forget to change out clothes in your child's cubby so they are weather appropriate.
Please feel free to call or email me with any questions or concerns that come up. I think the school year is off to a really great start.
Thank all of you for your support!
